| QUESTION:
I always thought it was custom when purchasing a wedding gift to spend enough to at least cover your bill at the wedding banquet. So if you were to go to a wedding that included a big Chinese banquet, you should probably spend at least $50 on the wedding gift. I don't know how I got that idea, but I asked my roommate the other day and she had the same criteria on wedding present spending. I know Chinese families, they actually count on the cash received from guests to help blunt the cost of the wedding day.
So, how much is norm to spend on a wedding gift these days? Does it matter if you also have bought a bridal shower gift? Or that you're a student and make negative salary and are just free-loading off your parents? Or is the main determiner how close you are to the bride and groom, like the more you like them, the more expensive the gift?
Regardless, weddings are expensive any way you look at them....

HOW MUCH YOUNGER CAN THE GUY BE FOR IT TO STILL BE REASONABLE WHEN DATING A GIRL? and let's just say the girl happens to be about 25 years old... ;) |
